Doncaster 15:05
This is a Group 2 fillies race run over an extended one mile and six furlongs. Luca Cumani has a really good record in this race and Silk Sari won this for him last year. He has another excellent chance this year with Koora. She was second at York on her latest start over a mile and a half and was plugging on at the end there to suggest the step up in trip will be of benefit. The three year olds allowance will surely prove useful and I think she will go close.
Hidden Gold for Godolphin was second over this trip in a Group 3 at Goodwood and on her most recent run was third in a Group 2 over two miles. She has won over distances from nine furlongs to two miles on ground ranging from good to soft to good to firm, so is definitely a flexible horse. She will need to be at her best here to take this and I remain to be convinced at a short enough price that she is any value today.
John Gosden's Gretchen is another lightly raced three year old and won a Listed contest last time out over a mile and a half. This will be her first try over that distance and it remains to be seen whether or not she will get home here.
Vive Ma Fille has been super consistent without winning since her debut over a mile and a half at Lingfield in March. She was a really good fifth in the Goodwood Cup over two miles where she faded in the final furlong, therefore dropping back to this trip may see her at her best. Her most recent outing was a third place over this trip in a Listed race at Goodwood, however the ground was soft that day and it was the first time she had encountered such underfoot conditions. Today's ground should prove no problem and this is the kind of race that Mark Johnston can take. I think she is the value in the race at 10/1 and has a great chance of grabbing a place at the very least.
