cap one

Capital One Cup

The final matches of round three of the league cup take place tonight and there are some interesting match ups. The biggest game of the night is definitely at White Hart Lane with the North London Derby against Arsenal. Even though there are sure to be changes from the weekend by both sides, this is one game that the fans will really want to win so it is sure to be a feisty affair.

I have a feeling Spurs to take this one a little more seriously than the Gunners as it's a decent chance of a trophy for them, and if so they are decent value at best price 2/1 to take the win.

Liverpool play League Two Carlisle at home and although we can expect them to make a few changes they should have far too much and win this comfortably enough. It sounds like Belgium international Divock Origi is going to be starting this game and it represents a perfect opportunity for him to score his first goal for the club. He is attractively priced at 23/5 to be first goal scorer and although these are always tough bets to land but I think this has a really good chance.

Goodwood 15:45

This is a nice looking Listed race which heads the card at Goodwood today and Basem is a short price at the top of the market. The Godolphin horse was third in a Group 3 race at York last time out and a repeat of that run should see him go very close here.

Hors De Combat also came third in a Group 3 last time out and like Basem has some kind of form on good to soft ground. With both of these horses however they are unproven over ten furlongs and with the sticky underfoot conditions this could prove their undoing.

The one I like is Battalion for William Haggas. He is proven over ten furlongs and in fact has won over a mile and a half, therefore connections are certain to want to make this a test of stamina and not a slowly run race where the speed of the two horses mentioned above can come into play. I expect him to go off in front and if he is on his game I expect him to take this.

Any market support for David Livingston would be interesting. His last run was over 600 days ago but he was good enough to beat Telescope in the past and this is his first run for Roger Charlton.
