The ratings system and top picks are used to best effect when early morning odds are taken, as with any system getting VALUE is very important, the selections are usually on site by 8am to allow members the best chance to take these prices.
The Value selections arent affected as much by early odds as they are usually higher priced selections and not subject to large bets.

Not a happy bunny. A busy day at work and trying to place bets just doesn’t work! Managed to only bet on Clement in the top picks, not Value where stake is higher, also did the same on Masarah! Luckily also a lot of top picks an values didn’t get placed either but missed out on a profit overall.

i only ad 36 pts left in my bank, i decided not to continue next month so went crazy and teebled my bets today and at the prices i got made 27 points profit,still down 37pts,good luck to you all next month

Not sure how you are using the bet basket. I only use that when doing doubles /rfcs etc. it doesn’t work perfectly for all bookies. Sometimes the quick bet facility doesn’t work and you need to click each individual horse, then they load.
From June to September is the busiest time of the year at the place where I work so I will have less and less time so you wont see me around the blog as often 🙂 Lets hope for a big day today!!

Dan, i was doing the results all day yesterday, only got a few more to do so they will be up later today, as for the flat season, i would say around 6 weeks in we start to get an idea of form, that said and replying to what you said about more selective, it really never works out that way, there have been many days in the past i thought we would struggle and we had a great day and vice versa, last week for instance, i was very confident we would come out on top, but we had some stinkers and some close days but never hit the heights, so i have to just carry on doing it the way i always have(except for the real bad days)in the knowledge that it will turn around, it always does.
I use oddschecker andy. Think its great in general, just a couple of minor bugbears. When clicking on a bet to take you to the betFred bet basket the actual bet doesn’t end up in your bet basket, it only takes you to the betfred home page. Stops me using em half the time. The same can be said of betfair some of the time. The bet basket is annoying in that once you have collated all your bets you can’t just press on a button to transfer all your bets to the relative bookies bet basket, youve got to transfer them one at a time. Other than that its a quality site, apart from odds sometimes being slightly out of date.

Andy I use oddschecker and have lots of bookie accounts – betvic and stan james appear to have had more than their fair share of top odds this weekend. However when doing the top 2 rated, due to the number of bets to place and the fact that I cannot do this until lunchtime, it is much quicker for me personally to take a chance on the odds and exclusively use betfair – you win some and lose some on the odds. Unfortunately because my losses this last month exceeded the max I had set that I could lose in a month betfair stopped me placing bets (for my own protection) – so it was a very time consuming Saturday!
It is surprising how many are still above the odds Dean quotes, even at lunchtime – maybe that’s a worrying sign…i.e. the odds are drifting.
I use level stakes, although as March was good I did increase the stakes on Top/Value according to my increased bank. I used original bank amount for top2 rated, although it seems I chose the wrong month to start those. I’m not sure how much I’m down as I can never keep up with my results! Although I have had to fund some bookie accounts, I have enough in others to pay myself back, so it can’t be that bad yet! I will try and post some of the odds I am getting.

Maybe new members to the site should have been given a discounted or a free month trail for April and told to paper trade or bet to penny’s!

Well my bank is down from a 100 pts to 37.this was my first month dont think i can afford another month at ten pound a point il have to take the hit.feel a bit shell shocked but i new this could happen maybe should of waitd for the flat to start proper
For the first few months of my subscription i used level stakes on top picks and ended up 120 points up at one point. Unfortunately i then got cocky and changed to a sliding stake system using a percentage of my overall bank at exactly the wrong time. Since i did that we’ve barely had a winning day apart from last Saturday and my bank has depleted to 35 points up. Which overall is still pretty decent to be fair to Dean, if id have stuck to level stakes id still be a lot more up than that. Sadly i also started doing values earlier this month and am 30 points down using that. Guess I’ve just been unlucky the way its fallen. Still im gonna stick to a 100 point bank for each as has been suggested and hope things improve. Be interesting to know how anyone else is doing.
With that Dan it would be interesting to know how many points each member has in their betting bank at the moment, that’s if level stakes are being used.. personally I use a sliding scale and use 1% per bet, I always have a 100 point bank then 😉
Dean, on your blog yesterday you mentioned “you can’t wait to get into the flat season proper”. When do you personally believe this to begin? Ie. When does the form and fitness start levelling out? Lets hope we get there soon as i think some of the newer members banks will be bust in a short while if not! I personally think we should have been a lot more selective in this transitionary period and have said it before a few times. But its your business so we’ve just got to trust your experience. Lets hope this coming week signals a return to form. Be good to get some stats up for this month as well at some point. Cheers.

I already do the ratings the day before, finish at 7pm then finish off in the morning getting up around 4 to get them on for 7-30.
I know a lot of you work and need them early,

Typical, I couldn’t place bets today and the Topc Picks were 5pts in profit within the first 3 races.
I also believe changing post time will have a significant impact on prices. April was a bad month to join, and posting 2 or 3 hours later will make it harder to recover. Unless Top Picks are also achievable with BSP, I will also have to rethink my subscription.

Sorry to hear about your health mate I hope it is not serious. I agree with Daniel and Pete though the time that are posted now suits me a lot better and I would preffer to stay it the same way as it is right now but your health is always first of course. I also usually get into work at 9am sometimes 9:30am.
Could you not work on the selections the day before? Like during todays races time for instance you could work out on tomorrows selections and have them ready or almost ready so that you could wake up later in the morning and just check for non runners or whatever last minute info and send them early in the morning? Just a thought.
In any case no matter what time you post them I will find a way to place them somehow with my phone or whatever else but I also preffer the time they are sent at the moment.
Nice result in the last at Taunton yesterday with a 14 BSP Neston Grace winning by a neck to give the values a +5.5pts for the day to claw back some of the losses from this week.
Hope you get well soon Dean as I know how long ratings take to compile and appreciate the effort.
Let’s hope we’ve turned a corner for the month and can get some coins back in the pocket.

Yes likewise Dean, hope you feel better soon mate. Unfortunately ill probably have to cancel my subscription too though as if i can’t get the bets on before i start work at 9am then it won’t be worthwhile. I have a half hour lunch at half twelve but by the time i get chance to place the bets, which for top picks and values takes me about half an hour anyway, i imagine the value will be sucked out of the bets and hence not worth placing, even if i could find time which is unlikely anyway. If you could have em up for half eight i would still be ok but after nine is too late for me personally. But your health is number one so whatever suits you mate, just thought id best let you know my position.

Ok a few questions/comments there i need to answer
Some of you do know most wont that my health hasnt been very good recently, getting up at 4am to get the selections on for 7-30 isnt helping, i have tried this week limiting to 4 meetings by cutting out the poorest and has Dan has pointed out i havent even had time to get the weekly results posted. So from Monday the selections will be posted between 9 and 10 am, they could be earlier but if i say no later than 10 then i know i can stick to that, im sorry if this inconveniances some members but im afraid it has to be that way.

Daniel> YEs the values have been a nightmare this month mate. I dont have the numbers here since I am at work but the tops had a great day last Saturday and some proffit on Monday which brought us around evens for the month. But yesterday was a nothing day and today is not looking good either but this is a difficult month with the horses adapting to turf and I already expected this. Like I said many times before I keep my stakes level and I keep my 100 points bank and that works for me. And I only do the tops never been too keen on the values. They should be proffitable long term but the losing runs are longer and you need to be psychologically strong not to panic 🙂
Don’t know what the profit and loss is this month as it doesn’t seem to get posted anymore but its got to be rivalling January as another nightmare month surely? Defo the wrong month to start doing the values! FFS!

Please can you advise why no Perth today? Even if you think it’s ‘no bets’ there looked to be at least three or four races there worth looking at, would have been nice to have the ratings for those. I never like to think what might have been, especially when they could have possibly saved today.

This is a game of mental strength and stamina and keeping cool and I must admit it is difficult at times but it all looks much better now but remember not to go overboard and keep your bank and your level stakes and your 100 point bank cause you never know when the next 30 points day is coming nor the next long losing run but overall long term proffit is all that counts

As far as I know the double was hit on the first or second day posted and then there was an EW (one placed one won) but other than that no other winners. But keep in mind that if they come in they are usually over 50/1 shots so they are not going to come in every day of course. Amazing day again which brings us back almost level for the month. Missed the price took 10.4 this mornig but good start
Well those took way longer to place than normal. Even though I am using small stakes still I exceeded my betfair loss limit (I usually only use befair for speed during work days and ease of record keeping, which I am rubbish at!)so I had to use all of the other bookies available to me – got some good prices though – reminded me about Betdaq. SportingBet had some good prices but forgot my login details! Could do with a winning day!
Ok seems like the posting the selections problem should be solved with this now. Or I hope so anyways. Now we need to focus on what matters most bringing in winners and proffit. Tops are down 35 points and values 50 points on my records with bet365. I personally only follow the tops and 35 is still a long way from 100 points sugested as a bank so I will stick with it and wait for the tide to turn. If we reach 100 points loss then I will admit defeat and go but until then I will just keep my cool. Time will tell if I made the right choice. I hope so.

Well that certainly wasnt a great day but hopefully it has stopped the rot and we can build from here.
Pete this time last year we didnt have Top Picks or Values, just the ratings, there were over 300pts profit in april last year but the ratings were done slightly different back then, i had to change everything when we introduced Top picks.

Well Betfair just matched another one and I’m down to 9 unmatched selections. I’ll leave them as keep in-play, they’ll match if the odds rise in play or before race start, otherwise they’re not placed.
Yesterday I notice a horse I had bet at 10/1 fluctuating between 9/1 and 16/1 about 5 times in the 5 minutes before the start. Let’s hope that happens to some if not all of the 9 unmatched 🙂
If those with very low odds don’t get matched in-play and eventually win, tough luck…

Today I could only bet later in the morning. From a total of 23 bets for Top Picks and Value Tips, I manage to find 13 with equal/higher prices. The others are too low, some even half or less the indicated price. Should I bet with the low prices, leave betfair to try and match during play, or forget them altogether?
One or two bad days and the winger’s come out
to shout.
Just another angle has anyone ever kept a record of courses with bad results so that we can all steer clear of them.

I am new to he service also and expected better results but I am sure things will pick up.
However, I wonder what the results were like this time last year! If they were better then that is the way it goes and we have to take the hit like the grown ups we are.
If past results at this time of year are poor then I think as paying customers and hopefully for many, many years to come we are due some up front honesty Dean him self, I think it’s what they customer service or support.

Really bad day and i cocked up somehow on the values, Great Demeanour, Inessa Armand and spillway should have all been in there but there were 12 or 13 already in there and i had to cut a few and ofcourse it had to be thos that won, as for the Top picks yes its a bad run but nothing we havent seen before and it will turn.
Dan i understand what yr saying but quality wise there has been nothing as bad as what we had in jan/feb yes there have been poor days but there has always been a few selections where i thought we would profit.
The one who should decide whether it’s a bet or no bet is Dean. It’s his service and if he believes he can’t get no profit for the following days or weeks he should suspend the service until he sees fit. A starting bank is exactly for this situations and as long as he believes those who just joined won’t bust it, I’ll keep following his tips.

Weeks don’t get any worse than this Oscar. Its all very well saying if you don’t bet you don’t win but you need to pick your battles. At this time of year when fitness levels are questionable sometimes the best bet is no bet. All the good work of march has been undone now, a few more days like this and we’re back to square one. The poor lads that have just joined have lost almost half their banks!

What a lucky break! Had Seaside Sizzler at unmatched odds of 9/1, race started at 5/1, got matched during race and won! About half of today’s betting returned, let’s hope Katy Spirit makes it even.

I must admit today has been poor with only a 2nd and a 3rd out of 15 selections. Lets hope we can at least find a winner in the last 3 horses (tops+values) or else this will be a very painfull drop. Still I will stick to the level stakes plan and keep at it.

Fair enough Oscar, i don’t want to appear too critical as i think Dean provides a top service, i was sensationally drunk last night when i posted that after celebrating a glorious point taken away from the gooners! All i was trying to say was that i think a bit of caution at the moment wouldn’t hurt any.
9 2nds and 2 3rds if just two or three of those had won we wouldnt even debating this right now. Even at a bad run like this I can see the selections are good if you stick with them and you think LONG TERM. I said it many times before this is not a service for emotional and you need a 100 point bank and steady level stakes. On the 30th of March we had 6 winners and no placed horses and to be honest I have not see any service in my life who has acomplished that. We cant expect everyday to be like that. Dean is getting the right horses at nice prices in the frame and sometimes they will win all in one day and sometimes they will all place. This is how it works full stop.

If we dont play we cant win. You cant be too conservative either. I dont agree that today was the only day we were unlucky we have been unlucky many days. This week has been poor I agree. And things went down hill from the 9th of April and even so here are the stats:

Today was the only day I’ve thought we were unlucky all week in terms of seconds etc. The other days it was just poor selections. Does worry me that we’ve had no “no bet” days at a time when the seasons are crossing over and a lot of horses are coming back from months off, especially when Dean said he’d learnt lessons from the past on how to conserve the bank and wait for “good” opportunities only. Seems like no lessons have been learnt at minute. Very very disappointing.
Another poor day today. Too many 2nds at the moment we are not having luck right now. We are around 30 points down on each service the tops and the values. But we should still have 70 points on each to gamble too so do not panic guys. We have seen 20 and 30 point days and we could finish the month in proffit still. This is the nature of the beast. Its a shame with the start we had at the beginning of the month with the tops specially but we must keep calm and steady level stakes.

I’m using BSP for Value Tips and Betfair’s morning prices for Top Picks, overall it has been above the indicated prices. Before joining I was afraid of not being able to match the recommended prices but it seems there was no reason to worry. Now it’s time to start raining winners 🙂
Odessy’s BSP was 12.16 and I managed to get 17.5 earlier!

Very poor day today Im afraid. But lets keep our faith thats why we use a 100pts bank cause we know there is losing runs and then in a big day we can go up 30 points proffit. It is true that we are in loss on both services this month so far but the month its not over and Dean already told us that there would be a couple of weeks of transition into the flat so hopefully we will see a big day soon.

It’s obviously down to you, but I’ve always gone 1 pt win on both (2 pts if the same horse is in both) and found it to be profitable.
I’ve not done an exercise to see if e/w is more profitable on the values though.

Hi guys, I’m back from holidays and it looks like I missed a few great days – well done Dean and co! Not sure what’s worse – coming back to the cold or having missed a few good days!
Started back today so not the best of days, cumulatively-speaking, with an overall loss of around 7 points!
The Top Picks did best of all with two winners although we just missed out with two other 2nd placed selections.
The Values had a bit of a mare with no winners but as we know we should be prepared to accept longer losing runs with this.
The Top Rated finished a few points down after starting reasonably well for the first half of the selections and a 50% SR for the dutches.
Not too much damage done for those playing all three methods and those following the TPs coming out on top.
Onwards and upwards and the start of the Aintree festival to look forward to.

If the selection has ”place” next to it does that mean i’m backing it to place only?
Also i’ve got 1500 in my account will 100 points (15 quid per bet) be a safe amount to bet?

When you’re on oddschecker, if you click on the horse it’ll give you the price history from midnight that day
I hadnt noticed that Andy, i think Jason is just trying to keep it better organised so i have everyones email as i was missing people out when sending the ratings.
John, they are based on the early prices i personally get so they already are based on that. I know we are all never going to get the same prices, and it has been a contentious issue in the past but i think most of the guys on here get pretty close to what i get and it also works both ways, a lot of selections go of higher odds than i get so it evens itself out over time.
Can we base any profits on betfair and bet365 (which ever is biggest price) at time of post as using other bookies you are not able to obtain the early prices,just a thought.

Matt, most prices are with Betfair and Bet365 simply because they are the only ones who have odds available early on but yes i will do that from tomorrow.
Andy i have emailed anyone who wants the ratings on Sundays right from the start.
If I can make an observation if I may, this site is starting to look a bit Lionel with the amount of boxes now all over the place, just my opinion.. we now have an email facility?
Hi dean, hope you are well. The key for everyone to make the same points you and Jason advertise is getting an order filled at the same price you do, which is not always easy. With that in mind, and I know you get up early to work out the ratings, can you also post the site you get you price from ?
I try odds checker but cannot alway find how you got the price (e.g.miami gator @ Lin ).

Andy, You have probably been around long enough to remember i used to replace NRs but some days didnt have time or wasnt around so it never really worked out and thats why i stopped it.
Stir Trader, the last Top pick might look a bit risky at 14/1 and it is but 1st 2nd and 3rd from 3 runs its defo overpriced and i couldnt resist putting it in there.

I was going to say would it be an idea (maybe) to have a next best option in the event of non runner, maybe the next best rated and put in brackets by the side of the first option, but then having said that the first choice could pull out at only an hours notice and we’d lose a decent price on the next best selection I guess
